Technology Policy

Technology is central to the learning experience at Level Up Scholars Academy. As an Intragrated™ Private School, we blend structured, high-expectation instruction with advanced digital platforms to support student achievement, creativity, and career readiness. This policy ensures that all students use technology responsibly, ethically, and in alignment with our values of Purpose, Progress, and Power.

1. Technology Access Requirements

To participate in the academic program, each enrolled student must have:

  • A reliable laptop or desktop computer (no smartphones or tablets as primary devices)
  • A physical keyboard and webcam
  • Stable, high-speed internet (minimum download speed: 25 Mbps)
  • Access to a printer and scanner or scanning app
  • A pair of wired headphones with microphone

Level Up Scholars Academy may offer limited technical support but does not guarantee device repairs or replacements unless specifically provided through a school-issued program.

2. Required Software & Platforms

All students are expected to use approved school platforms only. These may include:

  • Classe365 (student learning portal)
  • Google Workspace for Education (email, docs, slides, etc.)
  • Secure video conferencing software (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet)
  • Industry certification platforms (as assigned by pathway)

Parents and students must agree not to use unauthorized tools, browsers, or plug-ins to manipulate or bypass learning systems.

3. Acceptable Use

Technology must be used for academic purposes only during instructional hours. Examples of acceptable use:

  • Completing and submitting assignments
  • Participating in live sessions and assessments
  • Conducting research or project work as assigned
  • Communicating with instructors and peers via school-approved tools

Unacceptable uses include but are not limited to:

  • Accessing or sharing inappropriate, violent, or obscene content
  • Cyberbullying, harassment, or threatening behavior
  • Plagiarizing or falsifying work using AI or online tools
  • Using VPNs, proxies, or hacks to override safety protocols

4. Cybersecurity & Safety Protocols

To protect students and the broader school community:

  • All students must install and maintain IDSeal ProTech® or another school-approved cybersecurity and device protection software.
  • Use of a family firewall or child-safe DNS filter such as CleanBrowsing, OpenDNS FamilyShield, or NetAngel is strongly recommended.
  • Students may not share their login credentials with others.

Parents are responsible for monitoring student technology use outside of school hours.

5. Technology Agreement

All students and guardians must review and sign the Level Up Technology & Internet Use Agreement during orientation. This agreement confirms:

  • Responsibility for the maintenance and safety of personal devices
  • Agreement to abide by all policies in this document
  • Acknowledgement of the school’s right to suspend technology access or issue disciplinary action in cases of misuse

6. Digital Citizenship

We expect all students to:

  • Demonstrate respect, integrity, and professionalism in online communications
  • Protect their personal identity and passwords
  • Report any security risks, concerns, or violations to a staff member immediately

7. Device Testing & Check-In

Periodically, students may be asked to complete tech-readiness assessments to ensure their systems are compatible and functioning. These checks will include:

  • Speed test
  • Webcam and mic functionality
  • Learning platform login verification

8. Consequences for Violation

Violations of this policy may result in:

  • Written warnings
  • Required parent conferences
  • Temporary or permanent restriction from school platforms
  • Academic penalties
  • Possible dismissal for extreme or repeated violations
